Here are some of our favourite restaurants in and around the Arenal Volcano. We are always open to other suggestions, feedback and recommendations though!

Restaurante La Choza del Laurel, 2479-7069, west of the church in La Fortuna near Alamo rentacar. Popular, serves typical food in a rustic open-air setting. Hummingbirds occasionally visit.

El Novillo Restaurant, 2479-7674, 4km from La Fortuna, on the road to Ciudad Quesada. Steak house with simple yet tasty food and generous portions. For a touch of local flavour substitute the chips for strips of yucca.

Ruffinos Restaurant, 2479-9997, near the petrol station at the crossroad in La Fortuna. Restaurant and coffe bar for international tastes.

Restaurante Mirador Arenal Steak House, 2479-9023, 6km from La Fortuna on the road to Tabacon. Very chintzy but the steak is top-notch, and on a clear night there is a fantastic view of the active side of the volcano.

Toad Hall, 2692-8020, overlooking Lake Arenal on the road towards Tilaran. Delicious food and fantastic views. Good for snacks too.
