Further information

When should I go?
Really, this is a trip which works year round. There are seasonal shifts as you will see below but basically nothing to stop you visiting at any time of year.
Bahia is basically tropical so you can expect warm conditions year round. March is the warmest month at an average high of 30c. July the coolest at 26c. In Salvador it rains a good deal, May is wettest with 33cm on average, January the driest with 11cm average.

Chapada Diamantina temperatures are fairly stable through the year (at an average of 23c) although June through September are the coolest months when temperatures are in the mid-teens centigrade. March to October are the driest times of year, November through February can be wetter but the landscape can be more beautiful with greater flow of water through the rivers and falls.

How active?
Suitable for anyone who enjoys walking. Other activities are suitable for anyone willing to have a go. Two of the walks in Chapada Diamantina can take up to six hours, but do not involve very long uphills or large height gains. It can be very hot.

On day six the optional climb involves scrambling with your hands at certain points.

On the coast there are water activities such as snorkeling, canoeing and optional horse riding.

How comfortable?
First class hotels/lodges throughout, with one quite basic lodge in Diamantina.

We have chosen accommodation on the basis of location, quality and character. In general, this means that hotels are very comfortable but not luxurious.

How independent?
You have a local guide in Salvador then a full time guide in Chapada Diamantina.

On Boipeba island you are free to explore at your own pace.

How responsible?
Pura Aventura is passionate about the places it visits.

To help preserve the integrity of these destinations we:

• Keep groups small to minimise environmental impact.

• Work directly with local businesses and organisations to directly benefit local economies. We use small, locally owned hotels and restaurants. We know the owners except in the large cities.

• Work with local guides so that our holidays are more interesting for clients and more beneficial locally.

• Make payment to suppliers before our clients arrive.

Pura Handmade Holiday

We have designed and deliver this holiday using our own people and carefully selected local suppliers to create a Pura Handmade holiday.

After discovering for ourselves the magic of Brazil we have applied our concept of “active holidays in comfort” already tested with success in other Latin American countries.

We have worked hand in hand with our Brazilian friends to design a holiday that lets you discover the secrets of Brazil.

Probably the best Brazil has to offer is its people.

We want to make sure you see the country through their eyes whilst enjoying our unique combination of adventure and comfort.
