Chapada Diamantina Walking Holiday » Itinerary

Fly to Brazil. Flights quoted separately. Collection on arrival by your guide who takes you to your charming hotel near the colonial centre.

Travel by comfortable bus to the town of Lencois in the Chapada Diamantina mountains. Watch sunset from the top of Pao Ignacio hill. Stay in a comfortable hotel.

Since yesterday was a travel day set off from straight from your hotel. Your destination is the waterfall of Sossego which is a 12km walk, much of it along the banks of a river.

Walk along a valley to skirt around the bottom of one the highest mountains in the northern part of the park. There are beautiful waterfalls and pools in which to cool off along the way.

Today’s walk takes you to the Fumaca ou Glass,the second highest waterfall in the Americas. The walk is relatively short at 9km but you do climb to the top in order to look down from the top of the waterfall.

Set off on what many consider to be the most beautiful hikes in Brazil, the Pati Valley. This first day of walking is the hardest one of your holiday at 27km but the scenery is spectacular.

After breakfast, walk to Funil and Lajedo, two unexplored waterfalls. Have lunch at Mrs Lé’s house (a neighbour). This afternoon, you walk and scramble up the “Morro do Castelo” or castle hill, a most distinctive landmark.

Today is walking Brazilian style, a full day to enjoy the scenery and take your time to appreciate the peace and quiet of Pati. Take time to swim.

Wake up early today as you hike up and out of the Pati Valley. Drive to the Poço Azul or Blue Pool. With the sun shining through a hole in the roof of the cave, you’ll see the water in the pool below shining bright blue. It’s a truly beautiful sight.

Set off back to Salvador on the comfortable bus, arriving early this afternoon. On arrival you are met by your guide at the bus station and taken to your hotel in the colonial part of town. The balance of the day is at leisure.

Full day to enjoy this magical city in the company of your guide. The beautiful colonial buildings and churches and the colorful houses form the background to a city literally full of music and dancing in the streets.

Transfer back to the airport for your flight home today.
