You are met on arrival at San José airport and transferred to your chosen pre-booked hotel.

Collect your vehicle from the hotel and set off independently. Perhaps visit a local coffee farm in the Central Valley to experience the cultivation process firsthand.

Walk along the crater’s edge at Poas volcano this morning, then drive to the nearby waterfall gardens to wander along forest trails.

Head to the cloudforest region of Bosque de Paz today to stay for two nights.

Free day to explore the cloudforest. The canopy is extremely rich with hummingbirds, colourful butterflies, exotic frogs and orchids.

Drive through picturesque small towns in the Central Valley en route to Arenal, your base for the next two nights. The glowing lava flows of Arenal volcano are particularly impressive on a clear night.

Free day based at Arenal. Activities include canopy tours, boat rides on Lake Arenal and guided walks to the volcano, or simply relax in one of the local hot springs.

Return to San José to drop off your hire car at the international airport before flying home.
