Costa Rica Honeymoon, tailor made honeymoon in Costa Rica information

Learn more about what to expect on this honeymoon to Costa Rica including when to go, how to get there and how comfortable you can expect to be.
Further information

This Costa Rica holiday is tailor made by us, delivered by our trusted partners. It is a Pura Handpicked holiday.

However, because this holiday is tailor made by Pura Aventura, it is unique to us.

We have designed it to allow you to see amazing variety without travelling too much. The pace of this honeymoon allows plenty of time to relax without it ever being just a ‘lay on a beach’ experience.

We deliver this holiday using our carefully selected local suppliers. Like us they are passionate about the places we visit and about helping you experience a real slice of Costa Rican life.

When should I go?
Costa Rica has two seasons: rainy and dry. The dry season runs from December to May.

The general rule is the further north you are, the drier it will be. So, if you plan to travel on the cusp of the seasons you can expect the best weather in the northwest and on the north Pacific coast.

The rainy season is a good time to travel to avoid the crowds. Rains usually last only a couple of hours and do not cause any problems for visitors.

The rainy season is heaviest in September and October. Most lodges on the Osa Peninsula are closed during these months.

You can expect some showers throughout the year in the rainforest at Tortuguero and on the Osa Peninsula.

Costa Rica is a tropical country, so with the exception of the cloudforest temperatures range from 25°C – 35°C all year round.

How active?
You can choose from a variety of excursions from the very active (surfing, horse riding, mountain biking, hiking) to the less active – wildlife walks, scenic drives and of course, just relaxing on a beach.

How comfortable?
Luxury boutique villa in San Jose with private patio and panoramic views, Xandari Plantation (prima villa).
Comfortable jungle lodge on the Osa Peninsula with views across the Golfo Dulce, Lapa Rios (deluxe ocean view room).

Superior cabin with volcano view in Arenal, in a first class hotel, Hotel Nayara (deluxe room).

On the Pacific coast stay at Punta Islita, a boutique hotel in a remote and beautiful setting. Very good food, excellent service and very comfortable rooms (deluxe room).

NB: Please note hotels are subject to availability.

How independent?
Guided whilst at the Osa Peninsula but otherwise you are free to explore at your own pace.

How responsible?
Pura Aventura is passionate about the places it visits.
To help preserve the integrity of these destinations we:
• Keep groups small to minimise environmental impact.
• Work directly with local businesses and organisations to directly benefit local economies. We use small, locally owned hotels and restaurants.
• Work with local guides so that our holidays are more interesting for clients and more beneficial locally.
• Make payment to suppliers before our clients arrive.
