Fly to the Galapagos Islands. Board your boat for lunch then visit North Seymour, home to large colonies of blue footed boobies and frigate birds.
Walk the coastal path to look for the bright yellow Santa Fe land iguana with their distinctive spiked backs. Watch sea birds this afternoon on South Plaza island.
Visit Cerro Brujo, a beautiful white sand beach and one of the first places visited by Charles Darwin. Sail to Punta Pitt, a beautiful spot.
Walk across Floreana Island to see flamingoes and sea turtles. Continue to the Devil’s Crown where you can snorkel. After lunch, visit Post Office bay and learn something about the human history of the islands.
Walk across a lava flow this morning on Isabela Island. There is very still little sign of life on these fairly new flows. Carry on to Urbina Bay where you should see penguins and turtles.
Visit the giant tortoise breeding and conservation project at the Charles Darwin Centre this morning. After lunch on shore, continue to the highlands to look for giant tortoises in the ‘wild’.
Start today with a landing on ‘sea lion beach’. All along the sand are sea lions basking in the sun. This afternoon walk to the rugged cliffs of Punta Suarez to see spectacular bird life.
Visit the quiet mangroves of Black Turtle Cove this morning then on to the pretty coral sand beach of Bachas beach.
Walk along the coastline of Santiago to see Galapagos fur seals. Explore the red sand beaches and lagoons of Rabida island this afternoon.
Visit the shores of one of the world’s most active volcanic islands, Fernandina, to walk amongst the flightless cormorants, sea lions and marine iguanas.
Explore the small islands of Elizabeth bay to see Galapagos penguins and flightless cormorants. Carry on into the mangrove wetlands to paddle peacefully past the wildlife.
Walk to a volcanic caldera for great views of the northern part of Isabela. Continue to Urbina bay where you look for giant tortoises in the wild and swim off the beach.
Visit the giant tortoise breeding and conservation project at the Charles Darwin Centre this morning. After lunch on shore, continue to the highlands to look for giant tortoises in the ‘wild’.
Explore ‘Bird Island’ on foot with a walk to Prince Philip’s Steps. Visit the coral sands of Darwin Bay for the chance to snorkel with fur seals.
Land at Bachas beach on Santa Cruz Island. This very pretty coral sand beach is a great place to spot birdlife and to swim and to snorkel. Fly home. |
