Nicaragua holiday, tailor made holiday to Nicaragua information

Learn more about what to expect on this holiday including when to go and how active and how comfortable you can expect to be.
Further information

When should I go?
This holiday can be run year round but possibly the best months are May and June which are at the end of the hot dry season and start of the cooler rainy season. This means you should have good weather but greener countryside.

October is probably best avoided as it is the rainiest.
Nicaragua is hot. Temperatures average 29c year round with humidity averaging 75%. There are two seasons: rainy and dry.

The rainy season is from June to November when most days begin sunny on the Pacific with rains of short duration coming in the afternoon and night, on the Caribbean side it may rain for several days at a time. October is the month with most rain.

The dry season runs from December to May when things are very hot. Temperatures can approach 40c on the Pacific side.

How long?
16 days but this holiday can be altered to suit you in almost any way.

How active?
A combination of walking, culture and wildlife.
There are a selection of activities on offer whilst at the beach but you basically choose how much or how little you want to do.

There are several rest days.

How comfortable?
We assume very comfortable small hotels throughout though Ometepe island is a more basic experience.

In Managua, stay in a 14 room hotel in a quiet residential area.

In Leon stay in a 15 room colonial style hotel with small pool area.

In Granada, stay in an early 19th century town house just off the main square. 22 rooms and a small pool.

In Ometepe stay in pleasant but fairly simple cabins on the lakeshore. All rooms en suite.

In San Juan stay in a charming and very comfortable small hotel near the beachfront.

How independent?
This is a tailor made holiday.

You have a private guide for ten days between days one and eleven. For your days at the beach you do not have a guide with you

How responsible?
Pura Aventura is passionate about the places it visits.
To help preserve the integrity of these destinations we:
• Keep groups small to minimise environmental impact.
• Work directly with local businesses and organisations to directly benefit local economies. We use small, locally owned hotels and restaurants. We know the owners except in the large cities.
• Work with local guides so that our holidays are more interesting for clients and more beneficial locally.
• Make payment to suppliers before our clients arrive.

Pura Handpicked Holiday

This itinerary is exclusive to Pura Aventura and is part of our handpicked tailor made range.

While this holiday is delivered by our partners on the ground in Nicaragua, it was designed by Pura Aventura to show the amazing variety of this wonderful country.

What makes our Nicaragua different?

Your holiday includes time meeting and interacting with local people where possible.

We have chosen small, locally owned and run properties which are closely integrated with their communities.
Nicaragua is a friendly, peaceful, rustic country entirely unspoiled by mass tourism.

If you don’t mind patchy tourist infrastructure then you will be rewarded with visits to untouched areas of outstanding natural beauty and a welcome found in few places in the world.

The scenery is a combination of volcanoes, lakes, cloud and rain forests, colonial cities and long stretches of tropical coastline.

The rich bio-diversity of Nicaragua is protected the largest expanse of uncut rainforest north of the Amazon.
Nicaragua is a very poor country and visitors must be prepared for this.
