Ski holiday Chile, adventure ski combination Chile holiday information

Learn more about what to expect on this ski holiday including when to go, activity levels and how comfortable you can expect to be.
Further information

When should I go?
The ski season in Chile runs from late June to the end of September. You can expect 80% clear days.

The peak season is July and August – the most reliable months for snow. Late June can be great but is somewhat variable. September, particularly early in the month, has been a reliable time of year for snow.

In Atacama, whilst it is normally dry, the temperature does fluctuate a good deal as you move between 2,000m and 5,600m. San Pedro itself stands at just over 2,000m.

Night times in winter (June to September) are cold, daytime temperatures tend to be pleasant, in the 14-18c range.

How active?
A great combination of skiing (as energetic as you want to make it) and relaxation.

Some high altitude walking in the Atacama but these are ‘return to base’ so you can choose not to walk on these days.

How comfortable?
Very comfortable lodges and hotels throughout. Please contact us for details.

In addition, the hotel has its own spa and natural hot springs. There is a bar which hosts live music and events most evenings.

In Santiago stay in a locally owned first-class hotel in the centre of the city.

In San Pedro, stay in a boutique hotel, again first-class, on the edge of town.

How independent?
You’re very independent skiing on this holiday, but with access to support on the ground if you need.

In the Atacama you can opt to have the private services of a Pura guide or to stay in a lodge with its own set of guides on site.

As well as giving you a great insight into the country, it also means that you have lots of flexibility in choosing what to do each day – the itinerary should therefore be read as a suggestion.

How Responsible?
Pura Aventura is passionate about the places it visits. To help preserve the integrity of these destinations we:

• Keep groups small to minimise environmental impact.

• Work directly with local businesses and organisations to directly benefit local economies. We use small, locally owned hotels and restaurants. We know the owners except in the large cities.

• Work with local guides so that our holidays are more interesting for clients and more beneficial locally.

• Make payment to suppliers before our clients arrive.
