Self Drive Walking Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 | Picos de Europa | Arrive and Explore
Arrive in northern Spain and drive to the Picos mountains.
Meet your guide this evening to help you settle in.
Day 2 | Picos de Europa | Day walking with a guide
Today you explore in the company of your Pura Aventura guide. Find out more about the area and settle in before heading off independently for the rest of the week. (b)
Day 3 | Picos de Europa | Walk through a deep gorge
Walk the famous Cares Gorge. The path runs along the wall of the gorge, cut into the rock, narrowing to 2 metres or so in places.
Walk up to 22km, 6hrs, up 250m, down 250m.

Day 4 | Picos de Europa | Ride bikes along rugged coastline
Today’s activity takes you along the undulating cliff tops with time to walk on the beaches.
Ride 27km, 4 hrs, up 250m, down 250m. (b)
Day 5 | Picos de Europa | Choice of activities
Change hotels today - leave the coast and the northern mountains to enjoy the lush eastern Picos.
Stop off en route for a taste of a more adventurous activity such as canoeing or even canyoning. (b)
Day 6 | Picos de Europa | Walk between villages
Change hotels today to stay on the southern edge of the mountains. Walk
on ancient trails across the meadows that join the nearby villages.
Walk 12km, 5hrs, up 650m, down 650m. (b)
Day 7 | Picos de Europa | High walk to Horcados Rojos
Take a cable-car to the upper reaches of the mountains in the heart of the National Park.
Walk to the peak of Horcados Rojos, one of the highest peaks in the Picos.
Walk 12km, 5hrs, up 700m, down 700m. (b)
Day 8 | Travel | Return home
Return to the airport for your flight home. (b)
