Wildlife & Culture Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 | Managua | Arrive    
Arrive in the capital city of Managua. Settle into your hotel and meet your guide this evening.

Day 2 | Leon | Visit Leon Viejo and volcanoes
Short drive to the colonial town of Leon. Historical tour of Leon Viejo, the old town buried by volcanic ash. Afternoon visit to San Jacinto village with boiling mud holes near to the volcano. Return to Leon and sleep in a converted monastery. (b)

Day 3 | Leon | Explore colonial Leon
Explore the historic city of Leon on foot with your guide today. (b)

Day 4 | Leon | Walk on an active volcano
Walk up Cerro Negro Volcano today, 450 meters high but still very active. Relax on a Pacific beach this afternoon. Return to Leon after sunset. (b)

Day 5 | Solentiname | Cross Lake Nicaragua
Travel by Cessna plane and boat to the island of Solentiname on Lake Nicaragua, originally a communal society for artists. Explore the tropical island and meet local artists this afternoon. (b,d)

Day 6 | Solentiname | Relax and explore
Explore the Los Guatusos Wildlife Reserve by boat , the only means of access. The reserve is very rich in bird life, monkeys, sloth, caiman, iguanas and agouti. Relax in a hammock and watch birdlife on the lake this afternoon. (b)

Day 7 | Granada | Travel & relax
Travel to Granada today, the continent's oldest European city. Stroll the narrow streets of the restored colonial centre this afternoon. (b,l,d)

Day 8 | Granada | Relax & explore
Explore with your guide this morning. Relax and explore at your own pace this afternoon. (b,l)

Day 9 | Granada | Visit markets & villages
Visit the area around Granada. Walk nature trails through tropical forests, peer into a steaming volcanic crater and walk through the villages of the indigenous indians. (b,l)

Day 10 | Pacific Coast | Relax on the coast
Head south 2.5 hrs to a luxurious eco-lodge on the Pacific Coast. The beaches are the finest on Central America's Pacific Coast. In addition, monkeys, armadillo, three-toed sloth, coati and opossum all live in the surrounding primary forest. (b,d)

Day 11 | Pacific Coast | Relax on the coast
Swim and relax on the empty beaches. For something more active you can cycle, kayak, surf, ride horses. (b,l,d)

Day 12 | Pacific Coast | Relax on the coast
Sea turtles nest here and baby turtles can sometimes be seen from August to January. (b,l,d)

Day 13 | Pacific Coast | Relax on the coast
Relax and enjoy the beach or take a guided wildlife walk. (b,l,d)

Day 14 | Managua | Beach and travel
Relax. Return to Managua after lunch for your last night in the city. (b,l)

Day 15 | Travel | Depart for home
Transfer to airport for your flight home.
